LSUS Students Supporting Community Renewal Friendship Youth Programs

LSUS students visit Shreveport Bossier Community Renewal (SBCR) Friendship Houses to screen after-school program participants for reading risks and to support/monitor community-based reading interventionist. Along with opportunities to work with children and families students learned about building collaborative projects. The Rhymes & Reading Project is collaborative effort of SBCR, LSUS, LSUHSC, and SWEPCO.

LSUS Students Screen Preschoolers

LSUS students conduct an early literacy screening with preschoolers at Barksdale AFB Child Development Center. School/class-wide screening helps teachers to identify children at-risk and develop individualized instructional opportunities. Students often particpate in brief field experiences to build skills and support their community.
